Questions

Practical answers about your first strokes, your custom PDFs, and your next practice session.

Where should a complete beginner start?

Start with the free lessons on tools, posture, guidelines, and basic strokes. An ordinary pen or pencil is enough for faux calligraphy. Choose one small exercise, then use the practice planner to build a routine at your own pace.

Can I make a PDF with my own words?

Yes. Open the studio, enter a name, phrase, or passage, choose a lettering font, and download your PDF. The live preview uses the same vector outlines as the download. You can make tracing sheets, a model with blank practice rows, blank guides, or full-ink lettering.

Is the studio free? Do I need an account?

The PDF studio, lettering explorer, lessons, and practice planner are free and need no account. The three free practice books also download directly without an email address. Paid book checkout is not available yet.

Which lettering fonts can I use?

The studio includes Great Vibes, Allura, Dancing Script, Caveat, Kalam, Italianno, Pinyon Script, UnifrakturMaguntia, and Sacramento. Explore them side by side with your own words on the styles page. They are digital lettering models, not complete historical calligraphy methods.

Do you upload my custom text?

The studio processes text and builds PDFs in your browser. It does not upload or save your words, and analytics are disabled on the studio and styles pages. Moving your words from the styles page uses a browser-only URL fragment which the studio clears after reading. Reloading the studio clears your work, so download before leaving.

What paper sizes and settings are available?

Choose A4 or US Letter, portrait or landscape, letter size, repeated rows, line spacing, margins, alignment, ink color, trace darkness, and horizontal or slant guides. Print at actual size or 100%. If your printer loses faint tracing lines, increase trace darkness.

How much text can I use?

Use up to 3,000 characters and generate up to 40 pages per PDF. Long lines wrap automatically, and explicit new lines are kept. Repeated spaces are normalized. Reduce text, repetitions, or lettering size if you reach the page limit.

Can I use emoji or other languages?

Font coverage varies. These lettering fonts mainly support Latin letters; many emoji and non-Latin scripts are unavailable. The studio identifies unsupported characters before export instead of silently removing them. Accented characters work when the selected font contains them.

Can I edit or search the lettering inside the PDF?

The lettering is exported as vector outlines for crisp printing and consistent appearance, not selectable text. To change the words or style, edit them in the studio and download a new PDF.

Does tracing teach me calligraphy?

Tracing can help you compare shapes and spacing, but it does not teach pen angle, pressure, or stroke order. Pair a printed model with the lessons, then practice without tracing. Brush lettering and broad-edge calligraphy require tool-specific technique.

Where is my practice progress saved?

Lesson completion and practice-plan progress are saved only in this browser on this device. They do not sync to another phone or computer. Clearing browser storage removes progress. The planner will tell you if your browser cannot save it.

Do I need special pens or paper?

Faux calligraphy works with an ordinary pen or pencil. For brush lettering, use a brush pen on smooth paper suited to it; rough paper can wear flexible tips. Start with the tools lesson before buying supplies.

Which Bible translation do the themed books use?

The existing scripture practice books use the King James Version. Their content and licensing details appear on each book page. The custom studio can also format text you provide; use text you have permission to reproduce.

What makes the large-print books different?

The large-print books use larger script, taller and more widely spaced guide rows, and shorter lines. The studio also lets you increase letter size and spacing for your own practice sheets.

Can I buy the paid practice books now?

Not yet. Their descriptions and interior previews are available to browse, but payment setup is still pending. In the meantime, download a free book or create your own worksheet in the studio. Existing book licensing and refund information is available through the footer links.
